A$AP Rocky Set to Be Honored for Collaboration of the Year at Footwear News Achievement Awards
The multi-hyphenate creative will accept the honor during a December ceremony.
A$AP Rocky adds to his “Fashion Killa” with more hardware. Footwear News announced on Thursday (Nov. 14) that the Harlem-bred rapper will be honored with the 2024 Collaboration of the Year alongside his creative partner Puma at the Footwear News Achievement Awards.
Rocky will accept the coveted award during a gala for the FNAAs — or as some call it, the Shoe Oscars — on Dec. 4.
“We’ve been working hard together on developing product that speaks to me and my culture and blurs the lines between motorsport, streetwear and fashion,” the A$AP Mob frontman said in a statement. “It’s been an exciting challenge, and I’m really happy with how my designs and creative interpretations have come to life.”
He continued: “Puma has given me the keys to push the boundaries, and I’m immensely grateful for their trust. This is just the beginning.”
Rocky and Puma have enjoyed a fruitful partnership since he was named creative director for the brand’s collaboration with F1 last year. They’ve followed through with a series of releases in 2024 which includes a multitude of colorways of the Inhale sneaker as well as various editions of the prickly 3D-printed Mostro silhouette.
“In the highly competitive collaborations market, this unique pairing truly stands out,” said Footwear News Editorial Director Michael Atmore in a statement. “Reaching across the worlds of sports, music and pop culture, A$AP Rocky’s powerful influence and artistry combined with Puma’s strong focus on creating must-have product makes for a perfect match. We are thrilled to honor Puma and Rocky at the Footwear News Achievement Awards.”
While it’s been a lucrative year for Rocky — who graced the cover of Billboard in August — on the apparel side, fans are still awaiting an update on his Don’t Be Dumb album, which was slated to arrive in August, but has been delayed indefinitely once again.
