AEG’s Ticketing Platform to Feature Fingerprint and Facial Recognition for Event Access
"This feature not only enhances security for our users but also streamlines the ticketing process," says AXS executive Justin Burleigh.
AXS, AEG’s ticketing and event access platform, is launching a new global biometric authentication feature for its mobile app across all smart phone devices.
The technology marks the first time a ticketing smart phone app utilizes biometric security features, such as fingerprint or facial recognition, to provide users with a secure way to access their accounts and tickets. Studies have shown that biometric-based security protocols tend to be far more secure than password-based systems.
With on-device biometric authentication, AXS users can log in to their accounts and access their tickets using their unique fingerprint or facial recognition. The technology can also reduce unauthorized ticket resale activity by making it difficult sell ticketing accounts on sites like Stubhub. In recent years, secondary sellers have found ways to defeat anti-ticket scalping technology through account trading — the new technology eliminates the need to remember passwords or access tickets while entering an event.
“We are thrilled to introduce biometric authentication to our mobile app,” said Justin Burleigh, chief product officer at AXS. “This feature not only enhances security for our users but also streamlines the ticketing process, allowing fans to focus on enjoying their live event journey.”
In addition to improved security, on-device biometric authentication will also provide a simplified account recovery process for AXS users who can’t recall their passwords.
The new on device biometric authentication feature is now available to all AXS users through the latest version of the AXS mobile app.
