One of Sean “Diddy” Combs’s lawyers is stepping down from the hip-hop mogul’s criminal racketeering case. Anthony Ricco filed a motion to withdraw from the case on February 21. Ricco said in the motion he has “sufficient reasons” to withdraw, per Variety, but would not reveal them under attorney-client privilege. “Although I have provided Sean Combs with the high level of legal representation expected by the court, under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs,” Ricco wrote. A judge has to approve his withdrawal, which he said would not affect the trial’s May start. Ricco was hired in September 2024, when Diddy was arrested on federal racketeering and sex-trafficking charges. Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos will continue representing Diddy in the criminal case. Meanwhile, Diddy has been busy in civil court, as the rape lawsuit against him and Jay-Z was dismissed and he filed a defamation lawsuit over a Peacock documentary.
