Haley Joel Osment, the Oscar-nominated former child star best known for starring in The Sixth Sense, was arrested for alleged public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance on April 8, police confirmed to People. The actor was at the Mammoth Mountain ski resort in central California. The officers responded to the call at 2 p.m., and when they arrived, Osment was already with resort staff. He was taken into custody but later released. The unidentified substance was sent to a lab, and the Mono County District Attorney’s Office will now decide whether or not to prosecute. The 37-year-old was previously arrested in 2006 after crashing his car into a mailbox. The actor, then 18, pleaded no contest to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of possession of marijuana and was sentenced to three years probation along with attending at least 26 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings over six months. Earlier this year, Osment’s Altadena house burned down in the Eaton fire. “My heart would be so full every time I drove home,” he shared at the time. “It was such a special place. I loved living there.”
