Jelly Roll Gets Destroyed on the Basketball Court by Harris County Juvenile Center Detainees
He also treated the teens to pizza.
Jelly Roll knows how to add some fun into an inspiring day.
The “Son of a Sinner” singer took to Instagram to share clips from his visit to Harris County Juvenile Detention Center in Houston, Texas, where he brought the detainees pizza and even challenged them to a game of basketball. “I don’t know you but I love you. When I was in a place like this, nobody told me that,” he says in the video. “When I was in the juvenile, nobody cool ever came to talk to me, nobody ever came and brought me pizza or nothing like that — I brought y’all pizza. I know how far a slice of pizza can go in this place. I can’t wait to spank their a– on the basketball court in a minute.”
While Jelly was confident at first, his basketball skills quickly proved to be inadequate when up against th detainees. “They whooped our a–es. They have plays. They’re trying to win,” he told the camera.
Basketball has been a huge part of Jelly Roll’s recent fitness routine, recently revealing that he lost 100 pounds. In an October social media update, Jelly’s nutrition coach Ian Larios explained that in addition to a healthy diet, he’s been “walking the arenas, playing basketball, boxing.”
Later on in the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center clip, the Grammy-nominated superstar shared some powerful words of advice. “What I’ve learned for sure, whatever you love, do. As much as you can do it. It’s the law of work. I’ve never seen it not work for anybody. If you do it like you love it for hard enough for long enough, it will inevitably play out,” he said.
