Jessica Simpson Announces First Album in 15 Years, Drops New Single ‘Use My Heart Against Me’
Simpson's last music release was her 2009 holiday album, Happy Christmas.

Jessica Simpson is stepping back into the music world. The superstar announced on Friday (Feb. 21) that she’s making her highly anticipated musical return with a brand new EP, Nashville Canyon, which is set for release on March 21.
Simpson celebrated her new era by dropping the project’s lead single, “Use My Heart Against Me,” representing her departure from pop to channel her Texan roots with a mix of Americana and soul. The star worked with Fancy Hagood, Natalie Hemby, Lucie Silvas and Trent Dabbs in Nashville to bring her music to life, as she embraces overcoming a series of heartbreaks, including a separation from her longtime husband Eric Johnson.
“I’ve lived through the hardest parts of life, and music is what has brought me back,” Simpson said of the project in a press statement. “Nashville Canyon is for anyone who’s ever been told who they are or how they should live their life. It’s about finding your true voice and the courage to be exactly who you are.”
She continued, “Music makes you un-become to become, and through this process my soul has been pulled to the very place it belongs. This music is mine to share, and it’s not just about me—it’s about everyone who’s ever felt lost or overlooked. I want to remind them that they’re not alone.”
Simpson’s last music release was her 2009 holiday album, Happy Christmas. Over the course of her music career, she dropped seven studio albums, starting with her 1999 debut project, Sweet Kisses.
The second part of Nashville Canyon will be released in early summer 2025. Listen to “Use My Heart Against Me” below.
