Lil Durk booked in Florida
October 25: Lil Durk has been arrested for his alleged role in a 2022 murder. The Chicago rapper, born Durk Banks, was booked by U.S. Marshals in Broward County, Florida, and is being held without bail on a pending murder-for-hire charge, Rolling Stone reported. Ahead of Durk’s arrest, five members of his group, OTF, were also arrested on various murder-for-hire charges in Los Angeles, per the Chicago Tribune, including Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston. The charges stem from the 2022 killing of rapper Quando Rondo’s cousin Lul Pab, born Saviay’a Robinson, at a West Hollywood gas station. Prosecutors allege the men had been hired to kill Rondo, born Tyquian Terrel Bowman, over his alleged role in the 2020 murder of Chicago rapper King Von, an associate of Durk’s, in an Atlanta shooting.
Durk, a Grammy winner, recently delayed his upcoming album, Deep Thoughts. It was originally set to be released October 18 before he pushed it to November 22; it’s now unclear whether the album will be released after his arrest. The rapper recently celebrated his record being “wiped and clean” in a tweet. “I ain’t a felon anymore,” he wrote. “Who would have thought?”
More charges for Durk
November 8: Lil Durk is facing two new felony counts in a murder-for-hire case. Now, Durk has been charged, along with his original conspiracy charge, with using interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire and a firearms charge, Rolling Stone reported. In a new superseding indictment, prosecutors accuse Durk of offering to pay members of his rap group OTF to kill Quando Rondo. Durk, along with the five other OTF defendants, faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Durk currently remains in Miami, where he was arrested, and is set to be extradited to Los Angeles soon, where he will be arraigned in federal court. Per Rolling Stone, an FBI agent said Durk had been planning to flee the U.S. after the OTF arrests. He was arrested an hour before he allegedly planned to fly to Italy, after previously booking flights to Switzerland and Dubai.
