Mark Ruffalo Was a ‘Dream’ Dad for Lili Reinhart
In Hal & Harper, she and Ruffalo join Cooper Raiff as members of a codependent family.
If you’re gonna manifest someone to play your dad, you might as well go big or go home (especially if it’s your childhood home). At Sundance 2025, Lili Reinhart told Vulture that it was “a dream” to have Mark Ruffalo play her dad in the upcoming dramedy Hal & Harper, in which codependent adult siblings are dealing with their childhood home being put up for sale. “He was the person we were told, you’re never gonna get. And then we got him,” Reinhart said of Ruffalo. But being told that didn’t discourage her or series director Cooper Raiff. “We were like, he’s our dad though,” Raiff, who also stars as Reinhart’s brother and came up with the idea for the show seven years ago. “When we hung out for the first time, we [realized] we all believed in past lives,” Raiff recalled. “There was a family bond that was really easy to tap into.” Ruffalo, Raiff, and Reinhart are joined by co-stars Havana Rose Liu, Addison Timlin, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Chris Meyers, and Betty Gilpin.
