Ohmigod You Guys, There’s a New Elle Woods
Her name is Lexi Minetree.

Legally Blonde the film came out in 2001, commencing a butterfly effect that resulted in the single greatest, most-colon’d piece of art of our time: the 2008 MTV reality-competition program Legally Blonde: The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods, in which ten under-30-year-olds were subjected to physical and psychological torture in order to play Elle Woods in the musical adaptation of Legally Blonde on Broadway. And now Lexi Minetree has won round two. Minetree will star as Woods in Prime Video’s upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series titled Elle, produced by Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine. Reese Witherspoon posted a video of herself breaking the news to Minetree on February 13, and ohmigodyouguys the similarities are breathtaking. The two definitely look alike, but they also move in tandem. “Y’all sound exactly alike,” Minetree’s mother says in the video after Witherspoon and Minetree call to give her the good news.
“Isn’t it crazy?” Witherspoon asks. “When I saw her tape, I was like are we the same person?” According to a press release, Elle will follow a high-school-age Elle Woods “as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love.” That’s incredibly vague, and we’re sad to think of a Legally Blonde property without Paulette, but let’s channel our inner Elle Woods and be optimistic about the series anyway.
