Rihanna Is Feeling ‘Thankful’ After A$AP Rocky’s Verdict
She rih-acted to the news in court and on her Instagram Story.

What a rih-lief for her family. Rihanna was in court today to hear the verdict in the felony assault trial agains A$AP Rocky, her longtime partner and the father of her children. As soon as Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) learned that he had been found not guilty, the rapper bolted over to the gallery, jumping to throw himself into Rihanna’s arms. She closed her eyes, overcome with emotion as she hugged him back. Rihanna — who showed up to support Rocky in court on several days during the three-week trial, at one point bringing their 1-year-old and 2-year-old sons with her — later posted a brief, celebratory message on her Instagram Story, writing in all caps, “The glory belongs to God and God alone! Thankful, humbled by His mercy!” alongside a prayer emoji.
If convicted of the two charges against him for firing a gun at a former friend in 2021, Rocky could have faced a maximum prison sentence of 24 years (meaning that he potentially could have been behind bars up until he turned 60). “Thank y’all for saving my life,” he told jurors as they exited the courtroom. In a video taken by TMZ outside of the courthouse, Rihanna stood off to Rocky’s side as he spoke to reporters about his acquittal. “We want to thank God first, you know what I’m saying?” Rocky said, going on to thank the jury again. “This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years, but I’m thankful, nonetheless,” he said. “Blessed to be here right now, to be a free man talking to y’all. Thank you. All praise to God.”
