Saturday Night Live Season 50 Bets Big on Bill Burr
Burr will host the first postelection episode of the season. Then, Charli “Kamala is brat” XCX pulls double duty.
Don’t know if you’ve heard, but Saturday Night Live season 50 is kind of a big deal. Also a big deal? The first SNL episode after an election. For the past two election cycles, the honor of hosting that episode has gone to Dave Chappelle. This time, the show is switching it up a little, even though it will stay in the stand-up family: The SNL 50 postelection spectacular will be hosted by comedian Bill Burr. For those out of the loop on him, Burr, by Vulture critic Kathryn VanArendonk’s analysis, is not your mother’s “cancel-culture, free-speech, devil’s-advocate contrarian.” He has anger issues, but he likes to think deeply about them. Now, he’ll get the chance to help the whole country process its postelection blues (or reds). Joining Burr on the big election episode is cocky rocker Mk.gee as musical guest. After that, Charli “Kamala is brat” XCX becomes the first person this season to pull double duty as both host and musical guest. Below, all the dates, hosts, and musical guests for SNL 50.
September 28: Jean Smart and Jelly Roll
October 5: Nate Bargatze and Coldplay
October 12: Ariana Grande and Stevie Nicks
October 19: Michael Keaton and Billie Eilish
November 2: John Mulaney and Chappell Roan
