Selena Gomez and David Henrie attended the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place premiere on Monday night (Oct. 28), as the duo are expected to reprise their roles as Alex and Justin Russo, respectively on the upcoming spin-off of Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place.

“It’s the best feeling in the whole world to be able to bring this back for you and to all the people who have never seen it before,” Gomez told People at the Los Angeles event, adding that her 11-year-old sister Gracie was also in attendance. “My sister included. I’ve made her watch it. I don’t think she’s that into it, but I was so genuinely happy to be able to just bring the nostalgia back.”

She continued of the original show, which aired from 2007 to 2012, “This is what gave me everything that I have today, and I’ll never forget that this is where I started.”

According to the series description, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place follows “an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities — and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.”

The show will officially premiere two episodes on Tuesday (Oct. 29) at 8 p.m. ET on Disney Channel. The first eight episodes will be available on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the next day.
