Say what you will about the Sonic movie franchise, but its films are the only ones right now that have Jim Carrey being unhinged and off the wall. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 actually has double the chaotic Carrey energy. You can witness it for yourself if you have Paramount+. Starting February 18, the second sequel is hitting the streamer for all subscribers. Helmed by Jeff Fowler, the Sonic films have made a consistently impressive showing at the box office, beating out Mufasa last Christmas. Soon after Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s premiere, Paramount confirmed a fourth movie is green-lit and scheduled to release in theaters March 19, 2027. It’s only a shame they didn’t release Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on streaming ahead of Valentine’s Day, because Sonic is basically a rom-com if you watch it only for Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik and his assistant who makes him his goat-milk lattes.
