Timothée Chalamet Calls on His Lookalikes for ‘SNL’ Hosting Help in New Promo

Timothée Chalamet is gearing up to pull double duty on this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live as both the host and musical guest, and needs all the help he can get.

In a new one-minute promo for the episode released on Wednesday (Jan. 22), the actor explains that he’s “never done this before,” referring to both hosting and performing during the episode, adding, “It’s a lot of work and I want to focus on the songs.”

Therefore, he’s called on four of his doppelgängers — a callback to the viral lookalike contest in Lower Manhattan back in October that he made a guest appearance at. In the clip, the body doubles do extra work to help save Chalamet time, including “meeting with the writers, working on my monologue and, of course, listening to Mikey Day brag about hosting Is It Cake?.”

In the middle of the promo, Chalamet gets a text reminding him that he has a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Since he’s all tied up, he sends one of the lookalikes to the show instead — much to the confusion of Fallon.

Chalamet first appeared on SNL in 2020. Three years later, he hosted the program again, starring in one particularly viral sketch in which he portrayed Troye Sivan in the form of a sleep-paralysis hallucination.

However, this marks the actor’s first time serving as musical guest on the series. He’s fresh off portraying the legendary Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic of the folk-rock star, A Complete Unknown. The Dune actor did all of his own vocals for the project.

Watch Chalamet and his lookalikes in the promo below, and catch the full episode of Saturday Night Live on Jan. 25 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The show also streams live on Peacock, where you can find previous episodes of the series.
