U.K. Rap Star Pozer Caps Off an Illustrious 2024 With New Single ‘Aquatic’
In April, the 21-year-old made U.K. chart history by becoming the first British rapper to chart their first two singles simultaneously.
Pozer has shared his psych-influenced new single “Aquatic,” following a year of major commercial and critical breakthroughs.
The song (which you can hear below) arrives less than a month after the Croydon artist teamed up with AJ Tracey on collaborative track “Heaterz,” which sampled “Gunshot Riddim” by pioneering grime producer Ironsoul. The 22-year-old has also recently been nominated in the best newcomer and best drill act categories at the forthcoming MOBO Awards.
“Aquatic” rounds off a stellar 12 months for Pozer, who mixes drill with Jersey club and grime influences in his music. In April, he made chart history in the U.K. by becoming the first British rapper to chart their first two singles in the Top 40 simultaneously (“Kitchen Stove,” “Malicious Intentions”).
He has since gone on to make his television debut via an appearance on Later… With Jools Holland and has earned co-signs from U.K. rap heavyweights Dave and Skepta, among others. The rapper has yet to tour or appear at any major festivals, but in recent months, he has honed his live show via Boiler Room and BBC Radio 1 session appearances, and freestyling alongside the viral DJ AG.
In July, Pozer spoke to Crack Magazine about coping with the pace in which his profile has risen. “I didn’t believe it was happening at first, and it’s only now that I’m coming to the space of realising that people are actually taking me in,” he said. “I’ve come a long way from the block to the billboard, and that’s why I always feel like I have to be saying something.”
Looking to 2025, Pozer has been included in the BBC Radio 1 Sound Of… longlist, as well as tips guides from tastemakers VEVO and Dazed.
