Jelly Roll, Shaboozey and more took the stage at Bridgestone Arena this year.
Many of country music’s biggest names were all under one roof Wednesday night (Nov. 20) for the 2024 Country Music Association Awards, where stars such as Jelly Roll, Shaboozey and more took the stage for a number of memorable performances.
In addition to sentimental tributes to George Strait — which was led by one of the night’s hosts, Lainey Wilson, with Jamey Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Parker McCollum and Chris Stapleton — Kris Kristofferson and Toby Keith, some of this year’s biggest hits were showcased live at the Bridgestone Arena, including ‘Boozey’s 18-week Billboard Hot 100-topper “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Luke Combs’ stage-shaking “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” from the smash Twisters soundtrack. Jelly performed not once, but twice, first joining Brooks & Dunn for a moving take on their “Believe” collaboration and later recruiting Keith Urban for a fiery rendition of the Tennessee breakout star’s “Liar.”
Stapleton also frequented the performance stage multiple times in between winning three awards — more than anyone else this year — opening the show with Post Malone for “California Sober” and duetting Morgane Stapleton on “What Am I Gonna Do?” in addition to joining in on the Strait tribute. The “Psycho” rapper-turned-country star also returned to the stage solo to sing his emotional ballad “Yours,” while Kelsea Ballerini and Noah Kahan teamed up to harmonize on their song “Cowboys Cry Too.”
Those are only a few of the performances that took place at this year’s awards, which were also hosted by Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan. Between numbers, the work of numerous Nashville heroes was honored with the giving out of crystal trophies. In addition to the “White Horse” singer winning male vocalist of the year, single of the year and song of the year, Morgan Wallen took home entertainer of the year, Wilson snagged female vocalist of the year and Cody Johnson won album of the year for Leather.
