Chalamet Goes Electric on SNL
Obscure pulls to make Nardwuar proud.
Timmy Tim went with some Bobby Bob deep cuts on Saturday Night Live last night. The A Complete Unknown star did double duty, hosting and musical guesting on SNL (with some backing keyboards from James Blake). Timothée Chalamet’s first performance of the night was a medley of “Outlaw Blues” off 1965’s Bringing It Back Home, and “Three Angels” from 1970’s New Morning. According to Variety, Chalamet has now sung “Outlaw Blues” live more than Bob Dylan himself. The one time the song appeared on a Dylan setlist, lead vocals were performed by Jack White. Chalamet’s second song of the night was “Tomorrow Is a Long Time,” which existed in demo form as long ago as 1960 but wasn’t released by Dylan himself until the 70’s. Obscure pulls that would make Nardwuar proud.
