Good American Family Dramatizes the ‘Real-Life Orphan’ Case

Hulu has released the trailer for Good American Family — the limited series dramatization of the true crime story (allegedly) inspired by the movie Orphan. It’s like nesting dolls of 21st century media. Ellen Pompeo stars as Kristine Barnett, the woman who claimed her adopted daughter Natalia Grace was actually an adult woman posing as a child. Natalia Grace appeared on Dr. Phil, and a three-season Investigation Discovery show went extremely in-depth on what happened and figured out once and for all the veracity of the Barnetts’ claim. Good American Family, on the other hand, looks to be teaching the controversy, so to speak. The trailer says the show is “Inspired by multiple stories, perspectives, threats, interpretations, “and “accusations.”

Besides Pompeo, the show stars Mark Duplass as Michael Barnett and Imogen Faith Reid as Natalia Grace. Other stars that can be peeped in the trailer include Dulé Hill, Christina Hendricks, and Reno 911!’s Mary Birdsong. You can bring Good American Family into your own quiet suburban life starting March 19. But at what cost??
