On Friday (Feb. 21), the superstar announced a special Mayhem on the Beach performance at the capital’s Praia de Copacabana. “It’s a great honor to be asked to sing for Rio — for my whole career, the fans in Brazil have been part of the lifeblood of the little monsters,” she wrote on social media.

The seaside performance will take place May 3.

“I’ve been dying to come perform for you for years and was heartbroken when I had to cancel years ago because I was hospitalized,” the 14-time Grammy winner continued. “Your understanding that I needed that time to heal meant the world to me. I am now coming back, and I feel better than ever and am working so hard to make sure this show is one you will never forget. Get ready for MAYHEM on the beach.”

It was September 2017 when Gaga had to cancel her Rock in Rio performance due to “severe physical pain,” with the singer disclosing at the time that she’d been hospitalized. “Brazil, I’m devastated that I’m not well enough,” she’d written on X, then known as Twitter. “I would do anything 4 u but I have to take care of my body right now.”

That year, the A Star Is Born actress opened up about her struggles with chronic pain caused by fibromyalgia in her Netflix documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two.

Mayhem on the Beach is scheduled for about two months after the upcoming release of Mayhem, Gaga’s highly anticipated seventh studio album due out on March 7. Three days prior to the concert announcement, the musician shared the project’s tracklist, featuring Billboard Hot 100 hit singles “Die With a Smile,” “Disease” and “Abracadabra,” as well as two bonus tracks titled “Kill for Love” and “Can’t Stop the High.”
