Love, Love Will Tear Summer House Apart Again
Tom Schwartz, what are you doing here?
The biggest surprise — dare I even say jump scare — of the Summer House season nine trailer is that Tom Schwartz is at the end, sitting in bed with Amanda Batula, Paige DeSorbo, and Ciara Miller (a.k.a. the Bed Sore Sisters). “You guys have to cherish this,” he tells them. “Your happy family … This is a beautiful thing you have, and I used to have that, too.” And now he doesn’t even have a show anymore.
Premiering on Wednesday, February 12, at 9 p.m. and on Peacock the next day, this season looks like the one that finally tears the house apart, if the trailer is any indication. The trailer starts, as always, in better times, when the group gelled and all got along. We see parties — a pirate theme, a bird theme, some rather unfortunate eye makeup — and meet the two newbies: Imrul Hassan, who only wants to bang, and Lexi Wood, who looks like Lala Kent with a better manicure and is going to start dating Jesse Solomon (always both names).
But then it quickly devolves into the various and sun-dried fights. Lindsay Hubbard is pregnant, and everyone is mad that her boyfriend isn’t around, including Danielle Olivera, who isn’t a full-time cast member this season. Lindsay is shouting at Gabby Prescod and calling her a cheater, Lindsay is yelling at Carl for thinking he’s a cheater, and she probably called up Joe the Balloon Guy to say he’s a cheater, too, even though she has no idea who he’s dating or whom he might have cheated with.
The drama is contagious because Lexi is going after Ciara because Jesse Solomon keeps flirting with her. Then, Paige and Kyle Cooke go at it for the millionth time because Paige (still) doesn’t think Kyle treats Amanda well enough. But maybe Paige is also upset because she’s worried Southern Charmer Craig Conover is going to break up with her? That is, when he’s done feuding with Kyle due to business … reasons. Damn, things might get as contentious here as they are for Schwartz over at Vanderpump Rules, but with drama this good, there’s one thing we know for sure: This show isn’t getting cancelled anytime soon.
