U.K Rap Stars AJ Tracey & Pozer Team Up on Fiery New Single ‘Heaterz’
The track features a sample of the iconic “Gunshot Riddim” by grime producer Ironsoul.
AJ Tracey and Pozer, two of U.K. rap’s most in-demand names, have joined forces on new single “Heaterz.” Released via west London rapper AJ’s own label, Revenge Records, the track samples “Gunshot Riddim” by pioneering grime producer Ironsoul.
“Heaterz” forms part of an ongoing wave of singles from AJ throughout 2024, following “Bubble Bath,” and “Joga Bonito.” The 30-year-old’s last full-length effort arrived in the form of 2021’s Flu Game album, which featured guest appearances from the likes of Kehlani, Mabel and T-Pain. The record peaked at No. 2 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart.
Pozer, meanwhile, has enjoyed a breakthrough year. In April, the Croydon artist – who mixes drill with Jersey club and grime influences – made chart history in the U.K. by becoming the first British rapper to chart his first two singles simultaneously (“Kitchen Stove,” “Malicious Intentions”). He has since gone on to make his television debut via an appearance on Later… With Jools Holland and has earned co-signs from U.K. rap stalwarts Dave, K-Trap and Skepta, among others.
Accompanying the release of “Heaterz” is a striking music video directed by Latemilk, who has worked with AJ across various projects in the past. The clip was filmed in London and captures the pace and intensity of the capital’s street culture.
Having gained attention through pirate radio sessions as a teenager, AJ first broke into the mainstream with his Secure The Bag! EP in 2017. In the years that have followed, he has gone on to earn six top 10 singles in the U.K, with “Ain’t It Different,” his 2020 collaboration with Headie One and Stormzy, reaching No. 2. Last year, AJ hit over one billion career streams, landing him the BRIT Billion Award by the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) as a result.
