When Rachel Sennott goes to the club, she wants to hear those Charli XCX classics. (And by the club, we mean the movie theater.) Promoting her upcoming film Bunnylovr, which premieres this week at Sundance, Sennott explained her role in getting Charli’s 2020 song “Detonate” on the soundtrack. Writer-director-star Katarina Zhu, who first met Sennott at NYU, had envisioned the How I’m Feeling Now track being part of the film. She cut together a teaser that her co-star and Brat pack member was happy to pass on. “I sent it to Charli. I’m like, if I do anything, there has to be a Charli song,” Sennott said, adding that “Detonate” is one of her favorite songs by the singer. According to Sennott, Charli liked the teaser, read the script, and ultimately gave a resounding, “Yeah, babe, sure.”

Bunnylovr centers on a New York-based cam-girl (Zhu) who is sent a fluffy Dwarf Hotot bunny by one of her regulars. According to Zhu, said bunny required a lot of breaks and arrived on set with a “big entourage” that included people from the Humane Society, animal wranglers, and an agent. Zhu joked that the “diva bunny” ate up 25% of the film’s budget. Sounds like a 365 party girl to us!
